Chevy II transformation

This old Chevy was enjoying a new motor upgrade. Lots of power. The downside was it handled like a tank would not stop very well. The answer? A new front crossmember and control arm set up. This kit also came with a front caliper kit conversion to get rid of those tired old drum brakes. Now this old Chevy handles like a champ....and stops on dime!

Welding done right! (Part 1)

This truck came into the shop on a wrecker. The idler arm has been torn from the frame. This Chevy 1 ton van is loaded to the max and the idler arm bracket could not take the stress. Daniel had one look at the damage and knew how to solve the issue. Weld, reinforce, undercoat and head for the highway! Great job Daniel!

Nice 55 Chevy

This old Chevy is really clean. It has a 454 and Mickey Thompsons all the way around. The owner is going to have to pull the engine and spread the cross member before we can work our magic.

Nice classic muscle car.

We see a lot of nice custom rides at Axle and Wheel but I have to admit I have a soft spot for a clean stock restoration. This classic Chevy is in better than new condition. It has fresh paint and a new crate engine. Our mission was to get the suspension working in better than new condition as well. At Axle and Wheel we have a knack for getting those vintage rides to behave as they should. Just be careful, the stock 4 wheel drum brakes on this baby were not designed to stop a 400 plus hp stroker motor!

Attack of the Giant Rims!

I get phone calls all the time asking if I can do an alignment on 26 or 28 inch rims. At Axle and Wheel we have the most up to date equipment to handle the current trends in the automotive aftermarket. It can be challenging to get a heavily modified car or truck to drive well. It just started making noise yesterday....

Lifted trucks eat wheel bearings. Lunch, dinner, you name it. A higher center of gravity puts more lateral force on spinning parts.  If you have a lifted truck or just a truck you run in mud or water a lot come by and let us check your wheel bearings. Diesel trucks are often so noisy that you can not hear the tell tale hum of the soon to be departed wheel bearing. All terrain tires are very effective in hiding the noise as well. Customer "A" had a friend fix his front end. He then hit the infamous pot hole in front of the A&W (no I did not make that pot hole...). The left front wheel tucked under and the young man came to a screeching halt if front of the shop. Wow what racket! Friends don't let friends friends work on their front end or brakes. It can get you killed. Customer "A" just barely missed a telephone pole...and my shop! Let us help you get your car fixed correctly and safely. As I am fond of saying "there is always a way".

The UT special

I thought that I would post this one for all the UT fans out there. This truck has a custom lift with a custom look. Now it has a custom wheel alignment! Donny got this one of kind ride driving right. Hookum Horns!!!!

Leprosy of the frame!

I'm sure you have had a friend tell you "cheaper is not always better".  This is especially true when it comes to frame and body work. A good customer came in with a 2009 Tahoe to have us inspect the frame and body work done by a "discount" body shop. Pictures tell the story.

One big lifted Hummer!

This lifted Hummer was a challenge. Giant wheels and waaaayyyy out of alignment. A few tweeks with a cheater bar and this baby was on  (or off!) the road again. Nice job Charlie!
